Founder, Executive Director
Pam is a long-time advocate for the local cancer community. With over 10 years of volunteer service as a Local Leader for Livestrong Foundation and volunteering on the Board of Directors for Ride for a Reason. Pam gained the experience necessary to start Triumph Cancer Foundation and grow the presence of Triumph Fitness in the Sacramento Metro Region.
Pam is an Architect and co-owns Sage Architecture, Inc. with her husband Paul Almond. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
Board Secretary
Alicia is the Manager of Health and Wellness at Western Health Advantage, facilitating health & wellness programs and events. She also serves as a spokesperson for WHA. Previously, she was a Health Educator for Hill Physician’s Group. Alicia enjoys being a Fitness Trainer and Nutritional consultant.
She holds a BA in Nutrition from Sac State University and an MA in Health Psychology from North Central University.
Board Treasurer
Jamie is a certified public accountant who owns and runs her own accounting firm in Davis, California. She is a State Council member of the California Society of CPA’s and is an active member of the Sacramento Chapter. She is triathlete and believes in the importance of exercise for quality of life.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.
Board Member
John is the Chief of Diagnostic Neuro-radiology at Mercy Imaging Center – part of Dignity Health system. He brings to our Board firsthand knowledge of the cancer treatment protocol survivors undertake. He has been a long-time supporter of the work of Triumph, seeing the effectiveness of our programs. He received his medical degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
Board Member
Melissa grew up in Pennsylvania and completed her undergraduate degree at MIT. She worked in biomedical research at MIT and Harvard/Children’s hospital for 3 years before completing medical school at Stanford University. She completed my Radiation Oncology residency at the University of Chicago before joining Mercy Medical Group almost 10 years ago. She is the Medical Director for oncology research in the greater Sacramento division and serve on the survivorship committee.
Board Member
Larry joins our Board of Directors after retiring from 27 years at Intel Corporation. His most recent position being Chief of Staff/Operations Manager – Systems and Components Partners. He initially began his time with Triumph as a CoGenerate Intel Fellow before joining our Board. As a cancer survivor who has also experienced Triumph Fitness firsthand, he brings the survivor’s perspective to our Board. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University Sacramento.

Marissa is a Certified Health Education Specialist, and works as a health educator for cancer prevention and screening. She is also an advocate for smoke- and tobacco- free policies. Marissa also owns her own candle company, and is a group fitness enthusiast. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Master of Public Health from UC Davis.
Advisory Board Member – Former Board Member
Skip is a physician, a former health plan medical director, and a businessman, with a broad-based perspective on the health care system and expertise in the issues of quality and medical necessity of care. His experience encompasses a seven-year practice in occupational medicine and emergency medicine, founding a managed care company, and management and consulting work with a wide range of businesses. Skip has served on many Boards in the Sacramento area, supporting the arts, theater and other health-related organizations.
Advisory Board Member – Former Board Member
Steve is the President and Publisher, Magazine Division of Sonoma Media Investments, LLC. Previously, he was the publisher of Sactown Magazine since its inception in 2006 until 2020. Prior to Sactown, Steve was the president of the largest regional magazine in America, Texas Monthly, which routinely competes with magazines like Vanity Fair and The New Yorker for National Magazine Awards. While he spent most of his career in publishing, Childs is also an entrepreneur with 25 years experience in executive roles in publishing, finance, advertising, consumer marketing, business development, and management. He was also the Founding Director of Communities at Excite, one if the first major Internet search portals. Steve has served on multiple Boards in the community.
