Meet the 2022 hikers:
Aurea Romero

As a cancer survivor, I am grateful to God for the treatment and help I received through the doctors, family and friends during the last nine years of my life. I realize the importance of having the support of foundations like Triumph to empower survivors to complete their emotional and physical healing journey. This motivated me to participate in Triumph to Summit 2021.

Heather Pica

This is my second year hiking with Triumph Fitness. This organization has helped me in so many ways, I can’t possibly list them all here. I will say that through their talented, compassionate, and kind staff they’ve encouraged and facilitated my recovery post cancer treatment. While I am grateful for the treatment I received through the doctors, there is a gap in the rehabilitation process once all the procedures and infusions are complete. Triumph helps to bridge that gap.

K. W.

This is my sixth year on the trails with Triumph raising money for Triumph Cancer Foundation.
As a graduate of this nonprofit’s signature program, Triumph Fitness, I know firsthand how much value it brings to cancer treatment recovery and life after cancer. I am forever grateful for the adaptations I learned to keep my post cancer body moving and for the camaraderie between the Triumph staff and participants. Triumph Fitness is offered at no cost to participants thanks to the generosity of donors. The costs of cancer treatment can be astronomical, and this way, cost is not a barrier to participation. And, it’s the reason I was able to participate in the program!

It’s summer hiking season again and Team Triumph is back on the trails! I am proud to be the team leader of this amazing team hiking in the mountains – and by the sea! It is an honor to hike with this group of cancer warriors. To be amongst such an inspiring group of people each weekend reminds me of all that is good in this world. This July I am celebrating 22 years as a cancer survivor. TWENTY-TWO YEARS!!!! To mark the occasion, my goal is to raise $1,500 for Triumph Cancer Foundation. Why $1,500? Because this is the amount needed to enroll one more cancer survivor in 12 weeks of Triumph Fitness. This life-changing program is offered at no cost by our Foundation.

Thanks to YOU, these hikers made it to a summit in previous years!

Our 2022 Goals - Castle Peak & Thunder Mountain

The Final Hikes - August & September 2022

Join Team Triumph in the ultimate challenge as we climb Castle Peak in the Donner Pass area and Thunder Mountain in the Carson Pass to show the world that cancer survivors can triumph after cancer! Triumph Fitness alumni, friends, family, and supporters are welcome to join us on this inspiring climb!

Our summer adventures will include hikes to some of the most beautiful high elevation lakes in the Sierra Mountains.  We will venture across mountain streams and wild-flowered filled meadows above 9,000′ in elevation to get us ready for the final summit hikes to the tops of Castle Peak and Thunder Mountain. We’ll even venture to the Coastal range to take on some trails with wide open views of the Pacific Ocean.

Thunder Mountain towers above Silver Lake on Highway 88.  The standard route will take us by the Sentinels and other volcanic rock formations as we near the summit at 9,410′.  From our vantage point high above Silver Lake we’ll have 360 degree views of the Carson Pass area.

We offer several ways for companies to support our team’s efforts.  Each week from July through September, we track our progress on social media with photos, videos, and individual fundraising asks.  Opportunities exist to brand photos, video, T-shirts, and gear. Provide the necessary equipment to hikers and survivors. Provide an opportunity for cancer survivors to do something extraordinary.
