TRIUMPH TO THE SUMMIT – FREEL PEAK CLIMB
Event Date: Saturday September 9, 2017
Join Team Triumph in the ultimate challenge as we climb Freel Peak in the Tahoe Basin to show the world that cancer survivors can triumph after cancer! Triumph Fitness alumni, friends, family, and supporters are welcome to join us on this inspiring climb. We will be climbing while raising money in support of the Triumph Cancer Foundation.
In 2015, we held our very first Triumph to the Summit event thanks to Triumph Fitness alum Crystal Rowland. At her Triumph Fitness graduation celebration, Crystal announced that she wanted to do something special to pay it forward to help other cancer survivors like her to benefit from Triumph Fitness. She organized a team that trained throughout the summer of 2015. On September 11th, a group of 10 Team Triumph members successfully summited Mt. St. Helens in Washington. On the summit, the group held a special ceremony to honor those who had been lost to cancer or who were in the fight. This incredible team also raised $6,000 for our Foundation! Watch the video that Crystal created of 2015’s inspiring day:
For 2016, we decided to move the climb closer to Sacramento so that more Triumph alumni, friends, family, and supporters can join us on this special challenge. 19 Team Members summited Mt Tallac on September 9th, 2016 and over $8,000 was raised for our Foundation!
If you truly want to experience a day like no other, we invite you to join Team Triumph!
Freel Peak is located in the Southwest Lake Tahoe Basin. This Sierra peak has an elevation of 10,886 ft. The hike is approximately 10 miles round trip. We will be training throughout the summer in preparation for summiting this peak in September.
Triumph Fitness alumni will be leading our team for the 3rd year. Our Leaders will be organizing all of our conditioning hikes and other details. Joining us as team leaders are Triumph Fitness Instructor Dre Adams, Foundation Exec Director Pam Whitehead, and experienced hiker Jennifer Burke who will be our Lead Guide for this event.
Our goal for 2017 is to raise $10,886. Why this amount? Because that is the elevation of Freel Peak!
All team members will be asked to fundraise a minimum amount of $250 on behalf of the Triumph Cancer Foundation through our Crowdrise website. A special fundraising event will be set up for this year’s Triumph to the Summit and the link will be shared with all team members. All donations are 100% tax deductible. More details will be provided during our team meeting.
