Triumph Cancer Foundation Board Members

Pam Whitehead, Executive Director – Pam is a cancer survivor and the Founder of the Triumph Fitness Program.  She is a long-time advocate for the local cancer community and served as a local Leader for the Livestrong Foundation for over 10 years. Prior to creating the Triumph Cancer Foundation, Pam served on the Board of Directors for Ride for a Reason, another local nonprofit focused on raising money and awareness for cancer survivorship issues and Parkinson’s disease. Pam is an Architect and co-owns Sage Architecture, Inc. with her husband Paul Almond. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.

Rob Geyer, Board Member – Rob brings his valuable knowledge of the healthcare arena to the Foundation, as well as his experience of having served on other nonprofit Boards. He is the Executive Director of Reta Trust.  He was the former Senior Vice President of Customer Quality for Blue Shield of California with over 20 years of experience in the field. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California at Davis, and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Dr. Skip Rosenbloom, Board Member – Skip is a physician, a former health plan medical director, and a businessman, with a broad-based perspective on the health care system and expertise in the issues of quality and medical necessity of care.  His experience encompasses a seven-year practice in occupational medicine and emergency medicine, founding a managed care company, and management and consulting work with a wide range of businesses.

Wendy Phoenix, Board Member – Wendy is the Client Services Manager and Operations Manager at the Law Office of David Asch. She has years of experience working on various Boards in the community including WEAVE, where she served as the President.  She brings a depth of knowledge and expertise related to the nonprofit sector to our Board including strategic planning and complex problem solving. Wendy is also a breast cancer survivor and an alumni of Triumph Fitness.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison University.

Angela Chindgren, Board Member – Angela is a breast cancer survivor and alumni of the Triumph Fitness Program.  She is actively engaged in the cancer community, serving as a Breast Cancer Peer Navigator for Dignity Health and previously on the Internal Operations Board of Albie Aware.  She also co-leads Dignity Health’s monthly breast cancer support group at the C Street Cancer Center and served on the Internal Review Board in Clinical Trials in Oncology at Dignity Health.

Paula Plesha, Board Member & Secretary – Paula is a cancer survivor and alumni of the Triumph Fitness Program in Sacramento.  She initially became involved with the Foundation as a sponsor of our inaugural Triumph Uncorked event, but wanted to take on a larger role. Paula serves as our Triumph Fitness administrative coordinator. Paula is currently retired; formerly she was the Client Services Manager for All Stat Courier Services, Inc. She attended Sacramento City College and Sacramento State University.

Triumph Advisory Board

Kelly Balaam, Advisory Board Member – Kelly is the Director of Marketing & Communications for Eyefinity, a division of VSP.  She has more than 20 years of marketing experience in brand development, marketing strategy, corporate communications, public relations, web design and sales. Her experience in the health care industry includes roles with Radiological Associates of Sacramento (RAS), the California Dental Association and Woodland Healthcare. She received her BA in Communications and Marketing from California State University, Chico.  Kelly is also a long time breast cancer survivor who has been active in the cancer community for many years.

Steve Childs, Advisory Board Member – Steve has been the publisher of Sactown Magazine since its inception in 2006. Prior to Sactown, Steve was the president of the largest regional magazine in America — Texas Monthly — which routinely competes with magazines like Vanity Fair and The New Yorker for National Magazine Awards. While he has spent most of his career in publishing, Childs is also an entrepreneur with 25 year experience in executive roles in publishing, finance, advertising and consumer marketing, business development and management. He was also the Founding Director of Communities at Excite, one if the first major Internet search portals.  Steve has served on multiple Boards in the community.
